ASK theatre Apeldoorn
2 t/m 5 December 2014

We’d been practising for such a long time! And now, we finally got the chance to show our great audience where we had been working on since April.
ASK theatre was founded over 115 years ago, by primary school teachers. Their idea was to give children a chance to go to a theatre at least once in their life. Over the years, the organisation has grown to a more professional musical group.
I’ve been joining ASK since I was 7, but some years I couldn’t join because they didn’t need children in their musicals. Every year, you sing up again, but you never know whether you can join or not.
This year, we did 99+2 Dalmatians. Luckily I got an e-mail somewhere in March; they gave me a role in the musical. I had done this musical before in 2007, when I was only 8 years old. At our first meeting, I heard I was a member of the Ensemble, which included several different roles. I love to be Ensemble, because you are on stage for a very long time, and you get to play, dance and sing.

After loads of practising, studying, singing, dancing, more practising and podium training, time was there to perform our musical 9 times in one week! With a cast of 70 persons, youngest girl was 7, eldest man 79, we could finally show our efforts on the biggest stage of Orpheus!

The whole week was amazing! This group felt like family, with little sisters and brothers, extra grandparents, 10ths of aunts and uncles and big brothers and sisters.

I hope I can join again next year!
